At Monarch Waste Co., we’re proud to work with cannabis businesses across Missouri that are helping shape the state’s growing industry. One of those businesses is Luxury Leaf, a black- and woman-owned cannabis boutique in The Grove neighborhood of St. Louis.
Luxury Leaf offers a curated selection of cannabis products along with knowledgeable guidance and an elevated customer experience. From making history in Missouri’s cannabis industry to expanding its offerings and services, the dispensary continues to grow while staying true to its original vision.
Making History in Missouri’s Cannabis Industry
Founded by St. Louis native Adrienne Scales-Williams, Luxury Leaf first opened as a medical cannabis dispensary in January 2022, offering one-on-one consultations with a naturopathic physician.
Luxury Leaf opened for adult-use cannabis sales in February 2023, on the first day recreational cannabis sales became legal in Missouri. As a Black woman and cannabis business owner, Scales-Williams hopes to inspire other women and women of color to pursue opportunities in the growing marketplace.
Elevating the Cannabis Shopping Experience
Adrienne envisioned a boutique-style dispensary that offers more than cannabis products by creating a welcoming, upscale environment where customers can receive personalized guidance. At Luxury Leaf, conversations and education matter as much as the products themselves.
Customers can explore products from more than 100 brands supplied by Missouri-licensed cultivators and manufacturers. Luxury Leaf carries products across 10 categories: flower, pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates, edibles, tinctures, topicals, CBD, accessories, and apparel.
As the cannabis industry continues to evolve, the dispensary remains focused on providing a personalized shopping experience while expanding its offerings to meet customer needs.
Bringing Vape Pen Recycling to Retail
Monarch Waste Co. partners with Luxury Leaf to make vape pen recycling more accessible. As a participant in the Disposable Vape Pen Takeback Program, the dispensary has a collection kiosk where customers can conveniently drop off their used disposable vape pens for proper recycling.
All-in-one (AIO) disposable vapes are one of the cannabis industry’s toughest sustainability challenges, as each unit contains a lithium-ion battery that can’t safely be tossed in standard trash or recycling streams. Plus, discarding them also wastes valuable materials like cobalt, copper, lithium, and nickel. This led Monarch to create its Disposable Vape Recycling Program.
Monarch installs collection kiosks at participating retailers, and then recycles the batteries with local R2-certified recyclers. This recovers 90% to 95% of the materials from every vape pen while keeping them out of landfills. Scheduling pickups, waste processing, and documentation are all handled by Monarch, allowing dispensaries to stay focused on daily operations while remaining fully compliant.
